Cadiz, often referred to as the oldest city in Europe, is beautifully situated on a peninsula jutting out into a bay, and almost the entire city is surrounded by water. Positioned on Spain's southwestern coast, this enchanting historic city boasts long white beaches featuring broad white dunes running along them. Cadiz is mostly renowned for its contribution to the Spanish list of important historical events. The city offers, reflecting this significantly, things to do and see. Travelers won't find any zoos, aqua-parks or similar facilities that can be found Spain's Costa del Sol resorts. However, they will find beautiful churches, fine museums, and impressive and fascinating architectural sites besides the two other star attractions, the sea and the beach.

There's no shortage of leisure options in Cadiz. These feature discos and bars that stay open till the early hours, a number of outstanding restaurants serving local and national dishes. Visitors who consider themselves as night owls just have to visit the Old Town, where they'll find a fine selection of late-night spots in the maze of narrow streets.

So much activity deserves to be prized, and what better way to do it is to sit down to a hearty meal. As Cadiz is so close to the sea, it offers fresh oysters, squid, clams, sea snails, cockles and shrimp to mention some. The Dog crock caldillo de perro is deliciously elaborated with onions, hake, and tart orange juice. The Cabbage Stew is wonderfully prepared Cadiz stlye. There are also excellent game dishes, sherry style oxtail soup and kidneys in sherry. The artichokes and fried green beans are indescribable!

Our Spanish Language School in Cadiz, Spain

The Spanish language school is located in the commercial heart of the city, 2 minutes from the famous bullring. El Puerto de Santa María is a picturesque and lively Spanish city situated on the Costa de la Luz, 20 minutes across the bay from Cádiz. It is located around the mouth of the river Guadalete. There are 22 km of Atlantic coastline around the city, with 15 km of beaches of fine golden sand. This coastline is known as Costa de la Luz because of the unusually clear and intense quality of the light, 3100 hours per year. The city is an important fishing port with a number of historic buildings including the Castle where Christopher Columbus stayed while planning his famous voyage to discover the “ New World ”, a palm lined park, a maze of narrow bustling streets, a lively central market and a busy shopping and commercial area.

In as short a time as two weeks you will master elementary Spanish and in four weeks you will get to grips with more fundamental language in order to be able to have a conversation with the locals and read the newspapers.

We provide a range of excursions or other cultural activities, which are arranged by a local travel agent, but the cost of these are not included in the price of the program. Our Spanish language school in Cadiz normally takes its students on at least 6 to 8 excursions or activities during a months stay. These excursions are free of charge.

We can offer students a wide range of accommodation. Most people prefer to stay with one of our carefully selected families, where they can practice their Spanish in authentic everyday situations. Some may prefer to stay in a hostel near the Spanish school or in a hotel or yet again in a self contained apartment. Camping and pension (rooms) are also available, the choice is yours. Just let us know your preference and we will organize it for you.

Start Dates: Classes start every Monday of the year for students with a basic knowledge of the Spanish language, for absolute beginners, you need to consult the next starting date. The last week of December and the first of January, the school is closed.

Extras with every Spanish course: Students receive free of charge a cooking class in the kitchen of the Spanish school, a culture class and a cinema evening each week, and before the Spring Fair we also give the students free Sevillana dancing classes so they can participate fully in the festivities.

Beginners courses start on the first Monday of each Month and twice a month during June, July, August and September

Spanish Courses Cadiz - Accommodation

Our Spanish language school in Cadiz offers a wide range of accommodation able to suit the needs of everyone. Students can choose individual or double rooms in shared flats with other students; shared bedrooms can only be booked by students who register together, not individuals. Home stay with a Spanish host family with half or full board in either a single or double room, double rooms can only be booked by students who register together, not individuals. There are also one/two bedroom apartments, hotels, hostels and a camp site beside the beach.
