Learn Spanish in Santiago and Vina del Mar, Chile

Santiago, the capital of Chile, is also the biggest city of Chile with over 5,000,000 people. It is close to the mountains and to the beach. Viña del Mar belongs to the 5th region of Chile and is one of Chile's most fashionable beach resorts. It is a great place to take a vacation if you want go to the beach and relax. Taking advantage of this situation, we created this program, where our students can enroll on Spanish courses in both locations in Chile, at both schools, or in one single location.

Santiago:

You can find almost everything you need in this city. It has all star hotels, economical bed and breakfasts, restaurants of every ethnic background, discos, clubs, a museum, universities, international and national airports, high rise office buildings, theater, malls, fun parks, and a modern subway system which makes finding your way around Santiago a lot easier. Within an hour or so from Santiago you can also find outdoor opportunities like, hiking, nature, hot springs, and skiing. And If you want to venture out to other parts of Chile you can get there by bus, airline, and rental car from Santiago.

Vina Del Mar:

This town was founded in 1874 as a weekend retreat and garden residence for the wealthy elite from Valparaiso and Santiago, and it has remained a top beach destination for people from Santiago ever since. Most simply call the city "Viña". The sight of Viña del Mar's attractive homes, beautiful lawns, and golden beaches dotted with colorful surfboards is the best scenery to learn the language and mingle with locals. There are plenty of fine beaches. Viña del Mar is a wonderfully relaxing place to spend time.

Close to Viña is Valparaiso. Valpo (as it it's known) is Chile's principal port and second-largest city. Despite its size, it is Chile's most distinctive city and one of South America's most intriguing. Occupying a narrow strip of land between the waterfront and the nearby hills, its convoluted centre has distinctive, sinuous cobbled streets, and is overlooked by precipitous cliffs and hilltop suburbs which are accessed by funicular railways and stairway footpaths. It is conducive to maze-like strolls and rides on the funicular, and its natural history, fine arts and maritime museums are justly famed. The most interesting part of Valparaiso is the old section, where you will find colonial buildings, churches, and museums. Also worth seeing is Pablo Neruda's favorite house, a few minutes from town. A colorful, sunlit mansion overlooking the water, the house is now a museum, a visit to which, can pleasantly occupy an afternoon.

Our Spanish School in Santiago and Vina Del Mar, Chile

We have 4 levels of Spanish: No Spanish, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Your level of Spanish will be assessed via a placement test at the Centre. Our teachers are university professors with experience in teaching Spanish to foreign students. In our experience, an intermediate level (starting from nothing) can be achieved after 10-12 weeks of classes. Group classes are held Monday through Friday from 9 am to 1 pm with a 30-minute break at 11 am. Each week you will study 20 chronological hours. In the afternoons you can visit commercial or tourist sites, do your homework and/or participate in activities organized by the Spanish school in Chile. Textbooks and other materials are provided by the Centre. You only need to bring paper and a dictionary.

The Centre can help to focus your studies in the specific area of your choice. For example, we can pair you with a Chilean university student studying in your area of interest (at an additional cost) who will introduce you to the technical terminology of your profession. We can also put you in contact with other professionals and sites related to your area so that you can make visits or set up interviews

Our Spanish Courses in Chile

Individual Courses

Makes the student to speak the Spanish language at least 80% of the time in each session. It has been demonstrated that it guarantees an agile and customized learning, according to the specific necessities of each student.

Groip Courses

Made up of students of a similar level, outlined to fulfill specific functional objectives. Normally, to these groups is contemplated as a maximum 4 participants to assure individual participation.

Crash Courses

Organized and structured for who needs to communicate in Spanish over a brief term. The student is put under a rigid program between 4 and 8 hours daily of instruction, generally individual, being attended by different professors to be accustomed to different ambient and varied accents, which allows them to assimilate the base of the Spanish language in few weeks.

Levels:

Basic Level

After 60 lessons the student will be able to assimilate sufficient vocabulary and some isolated phrases.

Intermediate Level

From 120 lessons the student maintains a conversation on intranscendent subjects. In order to understand the language, locals have to speak with them slowly.

Advanced Level 1

The student is able to maintain a serious conversation with few problems. He knows verbs and he uses the tenses suitably. He must improve pronunciation.

Advanced Level 2

Has the confidence to treat routine subjects and to develop at a level to give you order subordinates. It dominates until about 85% of the language.

Advanced Level 3

The student speaks the language with fluidity, can dictate a conference and answer questions from an audience. He understands most of the native expressions.

Spanish Courses in Chile -Accommodation

Home stay: Stay with a Chilean family located in the best neighborhoods in Santiago where you will be provided with all the modern amenities and comforts you desire. A home stay is an excellent way to apply your knowledge acquired in classes, practice your Spanish and make new friends. The host family that will receive you has been carefully selected for their hospitality. You will be able to participate in all family activities, which will help you to integrate into a Latin family environment. Your room will be comfortable, well ventilated and prepared for you so that you have a pleasant stay. It will have a TV, a desk, a closet and a radio. In some cases bathroom facilities are shared. At the home of your host family you can receive visitors in the living room (perhaps classmates or new friends) so that you feel at home (Mi casa es tu casa).

Accommodations can be with or without meals. If you choose to include meals, this consists of breakfast and dinner, which you will have together with your host family to practice your Spanish. If you require a special diet (e.g. vegetarian) you should inform us in advance so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

The school and your home will not be more than 20- 25 minutes apart, as there is an excellent system of public transportation in Santiago. The school and your homestay will be located in the borough of Providencia, a vital commercial and cultural district of the city of Santiago.

We highly recommend that you arrive 2 days before classes begin so that you can rest, acclimatize, and orient yourself to the city. Bear in mind that Santiago has a population of 5 million and covers an urban area for greater than most cities in Europe or the USA.

On your arrival, the family will give the house keys, so you will feel free to enter or leave any time you want. For more safety and if requested, you can be met at the airport by a member of the school who will take you to the house where you will stay.
