Free Online Spanish Courses

Book a Spanish course with Languages in Action and you will receive at least one free, private online Spanish lesson per week booked, plus one free initial evaluation session.

These high quality online Spanish courses include live voice, video, chat and whiteboard, and are almost as good as having the teacher come to your home, office or wherever you have internet access.

You can schedule the classes at anytime convenient for you. All you need is a microphone and speakers on your computer. A webcam is highly recommended, but not essential.

You will be instructed by a friendly, professional and qualified native speaking teacher who will evaluate your current Spanish language ability and your goals. They will then provide you with effective and challenging material geared especially for you. After each class, you will receive via email a summary of the material covered in that class as well as material to help you prepare for the next one. You can choose to receive homework or not.

What a great way to jumpstart your Spanish course with Languages in Action and to prepare you for your upcoming adventure!

Online Spanish Course Guidelines

We offer private Spanish language classes online to students worldwide, at times convenient for you to connect via Skype from your home, office or other remote location.  To ensure a high quality experience with every class, we ask students to familiarize themselves with the following brief guidelines.

1. Class reservation system

  1. If you don’t already have Skype, go to www.skype.com, download and install the program and signup for an account. You can also use MSN Messenger, but Skype is recommended.
  2. To sign up for classes, go to www.ie-spanishonline.com.
  3. Click the red “Free Class Sign Up!” button on the upper left.
  4. Be sure to put “Languages in Action” in the “organization” field of the sign-up form.
  5. Select 2 dates and times that are convenient for you to have an online class.  Teachers are located in GMT -4 hours, so depending on your time zone it may take slightly longer than 24 hours to confirm.
  6. You will receive a confirmation email informing you of your teacher’s Skype username to add to your contacts. The message will include the confirmed time and date of the class to sign on.
  7. The teacher will call you via Skype at the confirmed class time. Please see the cancellation policy below regarding any need to change the date or time of a scheduled class.

2. Course Expectations

Classes are 60 minutes and are usually conducted with a mixture of audio, video and chat, with the teacher initiating the call with the option of using cameras on both ends.

Students whose internet speed is slower may prefer to turn the video camera off. While it is not required to use a camera, it is often helpful to see each other even briefly before conducting additional classes.

Teachers will send corrections and comments via the chat window, and many students prefer having only that window open during the class.

The first class is intended to enable the teacher to gauge the student’s language level and to understand his or her learning goals to devise subsequent classes appropriately. It may last less than 60 minutes depending upon the teacher and student.
Following the first class, the teacher and student will agree to a plan of study, which may include homework assignments if the student so chooses.

Teachers can introduce students to a wide variety of materials available, including multiple textbooks and workbooks whose pages have been scanned to be easily sent via email beforehand or via Skype at the beginning of class.
Additional audio or video clips, text, or images can be sent similarly.  A whiteboard feature enables student and teacher to communicate through yet another interface if they so desire.

3. Punctuality

  • Student. If you arrive late to class, the class will be held from the moment you arrive until the previously booked time.  Lost time will not be made up or rescheduled.

  • Teacher. If the teacher arrives more than 5 minutes but less than 15 minutes late to class, the student will not be charged for 30 minutes of the class. After 15 minutes, the whole lesson is not counted against your total free lessons. Should such a situation arise, please email administration at info@ie-spanishonline.com to alert them as soon as possible.

4. Class cancellation

  • Student. If you need to cancel a class, please let administration know 24 hours in advance. However, we understand that some situations might occur shortly before class, so in that event please get in touch with both administration and the teacher as soon as you can. If the teacher has already left home for class before receiving your message, you will be charged against your balance of classes.

  • Teacher. A teacher cannot cancel a class.  However, as some inevitable situations may arise, when a teacher cancels a class it MUST be at least 24 hours before class, and a replacement teacher will be provided. Alternatively, the student may choose to reschedule with the regular teacher. The teacher and administration will inform you about the cancellation and replacements.

5. Technical Difficulties

Sometimes there are technical problems with Skype or with an internet connection. When technical errors occur for less than 15 minutes but the class can continue after the interruption, the duration of the interruption will not be charged (or those minutes can be made up after the time class would normally end).  If after 15 minutes a connection cannot be established by the teacher, the class will be rescheduled and not charged.  If the internet connectivity issue is on your side, the teacher will await communication from the student to schedule another class and to understand what happened to determine how to proceed. Please contact administration in the event that any of the above occurs.

6. Course Comments

If you don’t feel comfortable with your teacher or you have a comment about your teacher or administration (positive or negative) you simply have to contact administration at info@instituto-exclusivo.com.

Feel free to include your suggestions in the body of the email, or to suggest an evaluation form to share your comments either personally or confidentially via www.surveymonkey.com.

If after your best efforts to resolve any concerns or difficulties with the administration have not been satisfactory, please inform us to help you with it.
