In a broad, high valley about 60 miles southeast of Mexico City is a town that has been known by many names over the years: City of Angels, City of Tiles, Heroic City of Zaragoza. Today we know it as simply Puebla.

European in nature, Puebla’s origins began with the Spanish. Known around the world for its hand-painted ceramics, Puebla (elevation 7, 000 feet) also offers striking views of ice-capped volcanoes. When you add a temperate climate year-around, friendly and courteous residents (called Poblanos), indigenous roots, and delicious regional cuisine, it becomes clear that there are many good reasons to learn Spanish in Puebla.

Spanish School in Puebla

Location: The Spanish school in Puebla is located in the historic center of Puebla. With a 17-century facade, our school is within easy walking distance of many tourist attractions including the Zocalo (main plaza), the cathedral, the theater, the market, the library, museums, colonial churches, the Post Office, and many cafes and restaurants.

Facilities: We built our school with careful consideration to class size, acoustics, and comfort, and installed the latest teaching equipment and materials. We have 18 classrooms equipped with ergonomic adjustable chairs, fluorescent lighting, overhead projectors, large desks, etc. We have 12 computers in our lab with a T-1 local network and the latest in software and multimedia language learning capabilities. Our programs range from pronunciation practice to vocabulary building. We also have VCR/DVD/TV units on which you can watch Spanish movies from our large library. In addition, the lab has access to the Internet for research or e-mail. We also have wireless internet access for any student that may bring a laptop. Our video/projection room, equipped with a new theater style audio system and a big screen TV, is used for special presentations and for viewing of videos during Spanish lessons. We have three student lounges/terraces and a patio for relaxing in between, before or after classes. Purified water, refreshments, coffee and snacks are available as well.

Teachers: All our teachers have college degrees in Spanish or Spanish Linguistics and have over 60 years of experience teaching Spanish as a second language between them.

Materials: Provided by school and includes textbook, workbook, verb conjunction book and dictionary.

Spanish Courses in Puebla

Type: Combined (group 20hrs / individual 10hrs)

Lessons per week: 30

Course Duration: Four weeks.

Lessons: Classes from 9: 00 am to 1: 00 pm and from 2: 30 pm to 4: 30 pm with 20 minutes of breaks total.

Class size: Maximum of 6.

Levels: All.

Spanish Learning + Cultural Activities

During individual afternoon lessons, you will be given a list of places of interest in Puebla with an explanation for each, and your instructor will accompany you to places of your choice and talk to you in Spanish. Home stay provides great opportunities to immerse yourself in the local culture. There are also free excursions to local ruins, theatres, parks, museums and movies.

Puebla Accommodation

Options: Home stay, hotel.

Type: Single.

Description: We only place one student per home stay. Each student has their own private room and in most cases their own private bathroom. Students will have breakfast and dinner with the home stay and lunch will be provided by the Institute at a close by restaurant (Mexican Buffet) or, if the student is vegetarian, at a vegetarian restaurant.

Meals: Full board.

Travel time to school: Less than 15 minutes.

Airport pickup: Included in course price from Puebla airport. From Mexico City - $85 US.
