Spanish School in Cancun, Mexico

Location: The Spanish school in Cancun is located in the older part of Cancun. Restaurants, buses, banks, a supermarket, etc. are within easy walking distance.

Facilities: A two floor building surrounded by tropical plants, with 12 classrooms and a patio where students can relax between classes. Classrooms are equipped with fans and air conditioning.

Teachers: All are university trained professors with teaching certification. They also complete our “Spanish as a Second Language” intensive training course as well as various professional development workshops, including the ACTFL (American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages) sponsored seminar in the U.S.A.

Materials: $20 if books requested, but normally free.

Spanish Courses in Cancun, Mexico

Type: Individual, Group, Combined group/individual.

Classes per week: Group - 15, 25; Combined - 15 + 5.

Course Duration: Minimum one week.

Lessons: 50 minutes.

Class size: Maximum of six.

Levels: All.

Spanish Learning + Cultural Activities

Living with a Mexican family provides many opportunities to experience the local culture and is an important part of your experience at the school, should you choose this option. There are a number of nearby islands to visit and explore, such as Isla Mujeres and Cozumel, both of which provide diving and snorkeling opportunities. There are also some important Mayan sites in the area such as Tulum, Coba, Palenque and Chichen Itza. Every weekend the school organizes a one day excursion for a small fee to one of these sites. The school also organizes Mexican cooking and salsa classes. Regular program classes also utilize out-of-class learning experiences and field trips by taking students to marketplaces, buses, restaurants, museums and others places where communication practice becomes necessary.

Cancun Accommodation

Options: Homestay, school residence, student house, private apartment at a hotel, beach apartments.

Type: Single, double.

Description:

• Homestay - private room, shared bath.
• School residence - private room with fan (no air conditioning), shared kitchen and living room.
• Student house - single or double room with its own bathroom, kitchen and roof terrace are shared.
• Private apartment at hotel - two queen sized beds per room with air conditioning, kitchen, bathroom, and pool access.
• Beach apartments - two double beds per room, bathroom, kitchenette, fridge, air conditioning, phone, TV, coffee maker and toaster.

Meals: Breakfast only, half board, no meals.

Travel time to school: Within 10 minutes walking distance (beach apartments are a 25 minute bus ride).

Airport pickup: $25 US.
