For anyone wishing to learn Medical Spanish, this course is held Monday through Friday for 2 hours per day and covers reading, writing, speaking and listening specific to medical Spanish. You can attend this course for as little as one week up to as long as you want.

This Medical Spanish course will prepare you for official certificates of medical Spanish (Certificado Básico de Español de las Ciencias de la Salud and Certificado Superior de Español de las Ciencias de la Salud) administered by the University of Alcalá and the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The school is an official exam center for these tests.

Medical Spanish Courses in Cuernavaca, MexicoTop

For anyone participating in medical related activities in the Spanish language, this school offers Medical Spanish courses in three formats; group, combined group/individual and executive individual.

These courses are for a minimum of one week (two weeks is recommended) and can be taken for as long as desired. All three courses include a portion of regular Spanish language instruction as well as focus on medical specific vocabulary and conversation skills and cross-cultural issues you will encounter working in the field.

You will also gain practical experience through visits to various health care facilities, including rural and homeopathic clinics, orphanages and hospitals. Certified nurses and doctors with adequate Spanish language skills can actively participate at these sites for a small additional administrative fee.

Optional cultural activities are available for a reasonable price. Some of these include the Xochicalco ruins, the Teotihuacan pyramids, the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City, the Frida Kahlo Museum and full weekend trips to Acapulco, Puebla and Cholula. Accommodation is described in the specific descriptions below.

Group Medical Spanish Course:

  • 15 hours per week of group general Spanish language instruction
  • 15 hours per week of group specialized medical vocabulary and conversation practice and visits to health care facilities.

  • Specialized text book must be purchased at the school for an additional fee.

Combined group/individual Medical Spanish Course:

  • This option is the same as the group course, except the 15 hours of general language instruction are individual.

Learn Medical Spanish in Oaxaca, Mexico Top

Our Oaxaca school offers a Medical Spanish course designed for those associated with the medical professions. This is a 32 hour per week program that can be taken for a minimum of 1 week up to as long as you desire.

Class size averages 5 students. In the mornings Monday through Friday, you will receive general Spanish language instruction for 3 hours and 1 hour of conversation practice focused on medical vocabulary.

In the afternoons Monday through Thursday, you will have an additional 2 hour conversation workshop concentrating on medical vocabulary, as well as 1 hour of “intercambio”, where you practice your Spanish with a native speaker, and they will have an opportunity to practice your native tongue with you.

If you book a 4 week course, you will have the opportunity to visit two medical clinics in the area as well as a practitioner of traditional Oaxacan medicine, an important aspect of local culture.

All teachers at the Medical Spanish School have special training and can instruct you in practical conversation skills, technical vocabulary and the unique cultural dimensions of health care in Mexico.

Learn Medical Spanish in Barva and Punta Morales, Costa RicaTop

This 4 week Medical Spanish course in Costa Rica offers 20 hours per week of training in level specific groups of no more than 6 students, ensuring ample attention for each participant.

Teachers will instruct you in practical conversation skills, taking a medical history, technical vocabulary and the unique cultural dimensions of health care in Costa Rica.

You will also have the opportunity to put your new skills to use in an actual professional situation such as public health projects and local clinics on a volunteer basis.

You will spend 40 to 60 hours (2 to 4 hours per day) over the course of the month in a placement that is appropriate to your training, Spanish language level and the needs of the organization. 

Placements may include working with the physically disabled, the terminally ill, pain patients, and more. Please note that this program provides no medical training and focuses on Medical Spanish language instruction.

Classes are Monday to Friday, so you will have weekends free. The school offers optional excursions for an additional fee. Destinations include places such as Arenal Volcano and Manuel Antonio National Parks and Baldi Hot Springs, among others.

The course price includes:

  • Medical oriented Spanish language classes in small groups - 20 hours per week.
  • Volunteer placement - 10 to 20 hours per week.
