Life in Hamburg revolves around the water. Even though it is quite a distance from the open sea, it is Europe’s third largest port, and the harbor is its biggest attraction. Watching the hectic traffic in the harbor is fun, as cruise ships, old fishing boats, graceful sailing vessels, and container ships go about their business.
There is much to do in the harbor area - visit the fish market, the dungeon dating back to the dark ages or take a barge tour of the harbor. On the banks of the Elba River, you can have a picnic during the day and party in the bars at night.
Hamburg also has two big artificial lakes and many interconnecting canals that add to the maritime ambience. Hamburg is Germany’s second largest city, and its history dates back to the 14th century.
With all this culture, history, entertainment and atmosphere at your disposal, you’re bound to have a great time while you learn German in Hamburg.
