Venice, Italy (Venezia in Italian) is still one of the most interesting and lovely places in the world. This sanctuary on a lagoon is virtually the same as it was five hundred years ago, which adds to the fascinating character. Venice has certainly begun to decay since its heyday, but the romantic charm remains. Stroll among the canals, eat gelato, marvel at the architecture, take a ride in a gondola - Venice is a prime location to learn Italian in Italy.

Venice is made of different parts. The most famous is the area comprising the 118 islands in the main districts of Cannaregio, Castello, Dorsoduro, Isola Della Giudecca, San Polo, San Croce, San Marco and Lido di Venezia where the main monuments and sights are located. Other important islands include Murano, Torcello, San Francesco del Deserto and Burano, but there are several more too. Lastly, there is Mestre another town on the more industrial mainland (but still part of Venice municipality), which is linked to Venice by a 5 kilometers bridge. In Mestre live more than 220.000 inhabitants, in Venice less than 60.000.

Our Italian Language School in Venice, Italy

Our Italian language school in Venice, Italy is located in the centre of Venice, in a well-known Venetian square, Campo Santa Margherita. It is a meeting place for students and residents who go shopping in the beautiful shops of the area or take a break to chat and drink in the open-air cafés. A historical building with a wide terrace on the campo hosts the school. All the students have free access to two internet points, a self-access study room with video facilities where they can watch films from the video collection of the school and wi-fi Internet connection.

Standard Group Italian Courses (Am)

Classes are held everyday from Monday to Friday, 4 hours a day with two different teachers.

These Italian courses begin every month.

The course is organised in 5 levels. At the beginning of the course, students sit a simple written test and have an interview. This allows them to join a group of the same level. For this reason we suggest students arriving at school at 8.30 am on the first day.

Beginners can enrol only during the first week of every monthly course. Students who already know a bit of Italian can enrol any time.

According to their level, the participants can acquire a basic knowledge of Italian or improve and perfect the their previous knowledge. In each group there are maximum twelve students.

Standard Group Italian Courses (Pm)

The difference between this Italian course and the Am course is that in this case classes are held in the afternoon, from 4,30 pm to 8,30 pm.

For this reason it is ideal if you want to have the time to visit churches and museums, to go to the seaside at the Venice Lido, or if you want to go to the library.

Classes are held during the summer session, everyday from Monday to Friday, 4 hours a day with two different teachers. The course lasts 4 weeks (80 hours), but you can enrol also for 1, 2 or 3 weeks. Beginners can only enrol during the first week.

You can take part in the cultural programme organised by the school every month independently of your level.

All the learning material and the events of the cultural programme are included.

Combined Italian Courses

It is designed for the student willing to intensify their Italian language learning. This

course consists in the combination between the standard course in the morning and

the Individual course in the afternoon. Two options are available.

Combined Course (20+5)

Intensive course + one hour one to one per day

Included in the price there are the several social and cultural activities offered by the school.

Combined Course (20+10)

Intensive course + two hours one to one per day

Included in the price are the several social and cultural activities offered by the school.

Individual Italian courses in Venice

You can start this course at any time of the year. The timetable, its duration and the amount of hours are decided according to your requests. The programme is made to suit your requirements. The minimum duration is 10 hours.

To stay with an Italian family is the best way to enjoy our daily life and improve your language skills. You will be free to maintain your habits with respect for the people who host you. In the house you will find all that you need: bedclothes, washing machine, TV. In addition, you will be given a personal copy of the keys so you can be independent.

Flat with other students

The opportunity to stay in a single room in a flat with other students that attend your school is a good chance to meet other people from all over the world.

The ideal solution if you'd like to live in an international atmosphere.

University Residence

Giudecca is the picturesque island in front of the Zattere; a continuous waterbus service links the island to the historical centre and so it can be also reached easily from Piazzale Roma and the railway station. In Giudecca you can find some of the artistic masterpieces of Venice, such as the Redentore church and the Molino Stucky; there are also a new theatre and a popular cultural centre that organises concerts and parties. The university residence has been newly restored that has 25 single rooms and 34 double rooms with bathroom, comfortable TV rooms and meeting rooms. Giudecca is the ideal place if you want to be near the historical centre, in a fashion area among students and artists, controlling accommodation expenditure.

Rules:

• Double rooms are available only for the students who enrol together and attend the course in the same period.
• You have to notify us of the date and hour of your arrival at least 5 days in advance.
• The rooms are available from the Sunday before the beginning of the course to the Saturday after the end.
• You are not allowed to invite people to sleep without special permission.
• You have to pay for the accommodation at school on the first day of the course.
