Sanremo is situated on the western end of the Ligurian Riviera, which stretches right along the coast from Cinque Terre and Portofino as far as Monte Carlo on the Côte d'Azur, (55 kms from Nice Airport in France ). The city of San Remo enjoys an average of 300 days of bright sunshine yearly. The temperatures range from a minimum of 15° C in the winter months to around 30° C in the summer (water 26° C). The beaches are clean - some sandy, some stony, and offer a variety of activities and fun. San Remo is a perfect location to attend Italian courses in Italy.

Commonly known as "La Città della Pace" (Town of Peace) or the "Town of Flowers ", Sanremo was recently appointed home for the world association of the "Nobel Peace Prize". Its lively centre is characterised by the famous "Ariston Theatre" wide promenades of palms, elegant boutiques, and typical Italian markets. The beautiful historical centre of Sanremo is a perfect example of late-medieval Italian architecture and is a wonderful place to attend Italian courses in Italy.

Our Italian school in San Remo, Italy is located close to the historical part of town and just a few steps away from the beach. Our Italian school building, Casa Valdese, has a long literary and academic tradition dating back to the 1940's when Italo Calvino, the renowned Italian author studied here. Following in his footsteps, our objective is to offer high quality, stimulating Italian language courses in a warm and friendly environment.

The team of motivated teachers are all professionally qualified and have several years of experience teaching at Italian schools in Italy. All of them are native Italian speakers and fluent in at least two other languages, including English.

Our objective is to ensure that students learn to speak Italian fluently and confidently. The classes are kept to a maximum of 9 students. This enables teachers to give individual attention to each student while providing an environment that encourages open discussion and conversation. We also ensure that students obtain a sound understanding of Italian grammar to ensure a strong foundation for the spoken and written language.

Our Italian Language Courses in San Remo, Italy

Standard Group Italian Language Course (20 hrs)

4 group hours per day from Monday to Friday from 9am to 12.40pm. One teaching hour is 50 minutes long. This type of course is perfect for those who want to combine study with other cultural and leisure activities in the afternoon.

Standard Group Italian Language Course (30 hrs)

6 group hours per day from 9am to 12:40pm and 1.20pm to 3pm. One teaching hour is 50 minutes long. This type of course is designed for students wanting to maximise study time during their stay.

Combined Italian Language Course (20 + 5 hrs)

4 group hours per day from 9am to 12:40pm plus 1 hour individual lesson in the afternoon every day, 25 teaching hours per week. One teaching hour in the morning is 50 minutes long, in the afternoon 60 minutes. This type of course is ideal for those who would like to combine the experience of a group class with the individual attention of a one on one lesson.

CILS-Exam (Preparation Course) (30 hrs)

4 group hours per day from 9am to 12:40pm plus 2 hours individual lesson in the afternoon every day, a total of 30 teaching hours per week. One teaching hour in the morning is 50 minutes long, in the afternoon 60 minutes. This type of course offers adequate preparation for the CILS (Certificate of Italian Language as a Foreign Language.) CILS is an official title that rates the degree of competence in Italian as a foreign language and is often required to enter Italian Universities.

Our Italian school in San Remo provides the necessary preparation and assistance for students who want to take this exam and gives advise regarding the choice of the university and the entrance requirements. The exam preparation takes place at our premises in Sanremo, but the actual exams are held at authorized centres (the nearest in Genoa ).

Individual (10, 20 hrs)

Tailor-made syllabus for all language levels! This teaching programme is one of the most flexible and efficient methods of learning. In coordination with the teacher, the student decides the speed and rhythm of learning, the timetable and the content of the lessons. This programme guarantees an optimal and individually controlled learning process. One individual lesson is 60 minutes long.

Shared Apartments

This is recommended for students who prefer to maintain their independence, but who would like to enjoy contact with other students. The apartments usually have 2-3 rooms, (double or single room) with a kitchen, bathroom/WC, TV, washing machine and a balcony. Utilities and the final cleaning service are included in the price. The school provides bed linen; please bring your own towels.

Private Apartment

Italian Host Families

The school carefully selects all families. They offer a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and give students the perfect opportunity to live a real Italian lifestyle. In the majority of cases, the owners are single or middle-aged couples, and the kitchen and bathroom/WC are shared. Bed and half board (also vegetarian) are included in the price; full board upon request.

Hotel or Guesthouse

Hotel and guesthouse rooms are available upon request. Reservations should be made in good time, especially in summer time and when large events are taking place locally.

Child Minder Service

The school can arrange a child minder service to cover the time of lessons. All the babysitters are well known by the school and most of them speak several languages (English among them).
