Learn Italian in Italy - Italian Courses in Italy: Maremma

Italian Courses in Maremma

Italian Courses in Maremma, Italy

Manciano - Maremma was once a fairly important market town for the area of the Albegna and Fiora valleys, with a stronghold already recorded in the 12th century. The most important site in the commune is Saturnia, an old Etruscan town with medieval walls, remains of a Roman road, and best known for its thermal springs dating to the Roman period and still in use today.

The coast, which has developed for about twenty kilometres, is a succession of sandy shores which stretch from the Ombrone mouth to Cala di Forno, where the Uccellina mountains create cliffs which continue up to Talamone promontory. As for the covering of the soil and the vegetation, the whole territory of the park includes completely different environments, such as fields used for pasture, the Mediterranean maquis, rocky areas, pine-woods, marshes and sandy dunes.

Italian Language Courses in Maremma As for the climate, in the area of the Park it is possible to experience continental, Mediterranean and subdesertic situations which explain why there is such a variety of species of vegetation. In the sides facing the inland areas, in fact, there are many arboreal species which are typically continental ( caducous leaves) mixed to typically Mediterranean species ( ever-greens), while in the sides facing south there are plants typical of north Africa environments ( dwarf palm tree, arboreal Euphorbia).
