Our German School in Kitzbühel, Austria
Our German school in Kitzbühel, Austria was founded in 1981 and was accredited by the governmental body Campus Austria in 1990 as a German language school of outstanding merit. It is a small German school set in the Austrian Alps, surrounded by exceptional natural beauty.
The school is set in a leafy suburb of the town, a 15 minute walk from the centre. This is a convenient location, with plenty of accommodation for students, supermarkets, a large sports equipment and clothing store, pubs, restaurants and a bank within 5 minutes walk. There are also tennis courts and a riding school within walking distance from the school.
There are bus stops all over the town, taking skiers to the slopes. Our nearest bus stop is a three minute walk from the German school in Kitzbühel, Austria.
With more than twenty years of experience of teaching German as a foreign language, we have improved our program over the years in response to feed back from students. The school has grown in size and reputation since 1981, and now welcomes students from all over the world.
We have a very full program of activities. At many German schools you are left alone during the time outside of formal lessons, and students tend to stay with other students of the same nationality, speaking their own language instead of developing their German. Our German programs, however, is designed to bring students of all nationalities together and to encourage them to learn German in authentic situations.
The area is of outstanding natural beauty and the mountain walks and the natural lakes are especially beautiful. We also visit the historic towns of Innsbruck, Salzburg and Munich, and sometimes we make whole day trips to these towns. These cultural excursions are very popular amongst students. Every program is accompanied by a native German speaking teacher who encourages students to speak German and who helps beginners to use their new G erman language skills.
In the ski season, we go skiing or snowboarding. The season runs from the end of November to the beginning of May. We usually agree in the coffee break between morning lessons where we will ski, based on the weather conditions, snow conditions and experience of the group. The school is a 5 minute walk from the nearest ski bus stop, and we normally fix a time to meet there before setting off together for the slopes.
Our German Language Courses in Kitzbühel, Austria
Standard Group German Course (15 hrs)
Tuition: Most people take the weekly German course. Tuition is from 9:00 in the morning to 12:15, Monday to Friday. You can stay for as many weeks as you would like to, with a minimum of one week. The German course includes participation in the free time program.
The standard group course has classes of between 2 and 6 people per class. This is a very intensive learning experience. You learn German a lot faster in such a small group: compare this with learning in a class of between 10 and 20 people - you participate more, the challenge is greater, you have more control over what you study and what topics or grammar points are discussed or studied, you get more individual attention from your teacher, you get to know your teacher better as well as your class mates, and there are many other advantages.
We have groups of every standard from absolute beginner to the very advanced. We ask everyone (except beginners) to take a short test on their first Monday morning so that we can put you in the right class for your standard. If you are the only person of your particular standard, we do not cancel your course as most German schools do: instead, we offer you a course with full participation in the free time program etc, but we reduce your lesson time from 9:00 to 10:30 (instead of 12:15, that is you get 2 lesson of 45 minutes per unit, instead of 4). You effectively get private lessons at the group rate.
Individual (10, 20 hrs)
Some people prefer one to one tuition. This is available to students of all standards, and you can opt either to take private lessons in addition to the weekly intensive group course, or to have all your lessons on a private basis. If you have special topics that you would like covered in your lessons, then you are of course free to ask for these. It would help us a lot if you could discuss these requirements by email so that we can ensure that your teacher is properly prepared for your lessons.

Our intensive German course is different from other German language schools for three main reasons:
Small classes: Our classes are very small, with never more than 6 people per class, and a yearly average of 3-4.
Free time program: Our free time program is very extensive. We offer at least one activity every day of the week, in addition to the regular Monday to Friday morning classes. We use our extensive local knowledge to exploit this fabulous region.
A friendly welcome: You will find that small German language schools have a lot of personal benefits. A teacher accompanies every free time program, so your contact to German speakers is much greater than just in lesson time.
This means that your German language skills improve very fast, you get to know your class mates and people from other classes very well, you get to know the teachers and staff very well and you are speaking German all the time. It's important that your stay here should be fun as well as educational, and staying in a small school means that you can get very involved in the free time program if you want to and learn a lot about the region as well as the language.
