Our French school in Montpellier, France has a privileged location in the heart of Montpellier 's historic city centre, and the 19th century building looks onto the famous Place de la Comédie, the main square of Montpellier with its sunny cafés terraces and its magnificent opera.

The school is located in the pedestrian city centre amongst an array of cafes, restaurants, boutiques, cinemas and surrounded by all monuments and places of interest and entertainment.

Situated at the heart of Montpellier, our French language school has excellent access to the train station with main buses and tramways stops and is always within easy reach of your accommodation (residences, host families, hotels, etc.).

At our French school in Montpellier, France you will be delighted with the peacefulness of the biggest pedestrian area existing in France, its green squares and gardens, and of course the inimitable colors and smells of French typical markets.

We have a charming place with modern facilities. The building is secure and easily accessible (intercom and lift) and has managed to keep its charm of Haussman style architecture despite recent renewals. The students have at their disposal a two-storey apartment of 10 light and spacious classrooms with multimedia equipment (CD players, TV, Videos, DVD).

Standard Group French Courses (20 hrs)

Acquisition of skills covering all aspects of the language: grammar, structure and vocabulary.

This is a semi-intensive program which also provides you with enough time to discover the region.

Standard Group French Courses (25 hrs)

In addition to the Standard course, you study for 2 afternoons to improve communication skills (language, culture, civilization).

These programs combine the dynamism of group tuition with tailored private lessons in order to:

• Work on your specific needs: grammar, vocabulary, understanding, pronunciation, improve conversation

• Match your personal or professional purposes: French for business, laws, economy, environment, sciences, journalism, etc...

Duration: From 1 week to 37 weeks

1 lesson = 45 minutes

Courses of 20 lessons per week are from 9.30 to 12.45 and break is from 11.00 to 11.15.

Courses of 25 lessons per week have additional classes on 2 afternoons (usually Tuesday, and Thursday) from 1.45 to 2.45

From 9:30 am to 11:00 am, writing and grammar with 1 teacher (But even for grammar refreshment, teacher will apply communicative methods). From 11:15 am to 12:45 pm, understanding and conversation with a second teacher.

The first day at school would be from 8:30am to 1:15pm. It starts with a general information meeting to present the school to you and explain our activities program. You are given a placement test (written and spoken) in order to determinate the most appropriate study group for you and to understand your specific needs. Placement test is based on the Common Reference Framework for Language Learning (CECR). An individual interview to organize all details of your stay is conducted. You will receive an info-package with a map of the city, a tourist guidebook, a student card as well as details of your stay and course's schedule. Your first lesson will take place at 10 am.

Certification

At the end of your French course, we deliver a certificate of attendance detailing the type of course completed, the length of the course, the European level attained (European passport) and your teacher's comments.

Our school is an authorized TEF examination centre so that you can prepare and sit for the exam at our institute.

You can choose from amongst a large variety of courses according to your goals and the time available to you: from 20 to 30 lessons per week. A program of cultural activities and excursions is available all year round.

Courses start each Monday. Starting dates for complete beginners – the first Monday of every month, January – October (except for August, course stars on July 30 th ).

April 10 th is a bank holiday so courses will start on the Tuesday.

For that reason, we offer a wide variety of options to suit all tastes and budgets from a stay with a host family to a private studio.

We select carefully the accommodations we offer according to their quality (aptitudes of the host to welcome foreign guests, tidiness of the place, location). All the host places we work with have agreed our quality label and are vetted by our accommodation team.

During the registration process, our accommodation team will gladly answer all your questions to help you to choose the most suitable accommodation according to your profile and expectations (age, length of the stay, specific requests and interests). We take care of booking and arrival arrangements. During your whole stay, our helpful team will be here to answer your questions and organize another accommodation if you are not satisfied.

Home Stay (half board)

A stay with a host family is the perfect accommodation if you are seeking a total immersion in French language and culture. You can choose to be placed with a host family, a couple, a single person and you can let us know your preferences regarding the age and profile of your host.

You can stay at an apartment in the town centre, a house with a garden or a villa near the beach, the main criterion remaining the warm welcome of your host! Meals with your hosts and their friends will allow you to improve every day language. Living with people of Montpellier will help you to discover the city and to get to meet new friends in France. Many students keep in touch with their host a long time after they go back to their home country.

Staying at a French host implies you are keen to discover a new culture and different customs, and requires a respect of the host habits so that you can adapt to the French style. It would be good if you offered to lend a hand every now and then to help participate in daily chores around the house - any cheerful participation would always be appreciated!

On the application form, you are invited to list all preferences and specific demands so that we are able to book the accommodation that will match the best your needs and expectations.

We will select your host according to your demands: profile of the family, age, interests, location, kind of lodging, pets, smoking or not, alimentary diet, allergies, religion and any other requests you may have.

Room : Individual with bed (double bed available upon request), working desk, closets and wardrobe.

Meal: Half board. You will share breakfast and dinner with your host.

Location: From 5 minutes walking to 20 minutes by bus. We strive our best to answer your requests, however Montpellier is a large city so we cannot guarantee an accommodation near the school in case of late registration.

Before departure you will receive with your confirmation of enrolment:

• full details (address, phone number and email address)
• description of the place
• information regarding your host (age, occupation, hobbies, etc..)
• a small behavior guide so that you can feel comfortable with your host.

Upon arrival your host will show you your room and will inform you of certain rules at home. You will receive a set of keys and information about how to make your way to the school.

Your host can welcome you at the airport or train station up to 10pm as long as you inform at the latest 1 week prior to arrival.(day and time of arrival as well as flight or train number) This is a free service.

Different options are available; breakfast only and kitchen access.

Studios and apartments

This is the perfect option if you are seeking independence of your private studio and conveniences and services of a 3 stars hotel. Booking through the school, you will benefit from discount prices and we will make booking arrangements for you.

The residence offers studios that can accommodate 1 or 2 people but also bigger apartments like 2 or 3 room flats. This option is much appreciated and we recommend you to book as early as possible to ensure there is availability for the time you wish to visit.

Note that due to national holidays there are no classes on the following dates in Montpellier : April 9, May 1, May 28, Aug 15.

Classes will take place on another day of the same week.
