Our English School in Hobart, Australia is located in a beautiful three storey heritage house with a large garden and orchard. In summer and autumn there are mulberries, apples, pears, apricots, figs, plums, walnuts and almonds for all to enjoy fresh from the garden. A wide variety of beautiful flowers and plants can also be found in the grounds throughout the year. The campus is situated close to the cultural heart of the city, within easy walking distance of public transport, the city's art centres, the state library, as well as shopping malls, cafes, banks, cinemas and attractive parklands and gardens. The Hobart central shopping area, including popular Salamanca Place, major services and transport are all within a ten minute walk.

Our English Language School's classrooms are small and cozy, with heating provided by a wood fired furnace in the wintertime. The student common room is a spacious and comfortable area that includes a fully equipped kitchen, and a balcony overlooking the garden.

Salamanca Market, Richmond and the Derwent Valley:

On this tour we browse the colourful stalls selling quality Tasmanian arts and crafts at Hobart's famous Salamanca Market. Following the market we take a guided tour of the historic township of Richmond which is rich in history and early colonial architecture, as well as more arts and craft shops and galleries. From Richmond we head along the banks of the Derwent River to New Norfolk and Bushy Park, where we take a 30 minute stroll through the rainforest to the spectacular Russell Falls. Finally we stop at a local café for a hot snack before returning home to Hobart.

Tasmanian Devil Park and Port Arthur:

This fascinating trip begins with a one hour drive from Hobart to the Tasmanian Devil and Wildlife Park, here we follow the nature trail and view Tasmania's wildlife in its natural environment, hopefully seeing Tasmanian Devils, possums, wallabies, kangaroos, owls, kookaburra, budgerigars and parrots, while also learning about the now extinct Tasmanian Tiger. After the national park we drive on for another 15 minutes and visit the famous penal settlement of Port Arthur, here we take a guided tour through the convict buildings and enjoy a feast of Tasmanian fine food and wine at the local hotels and restaurants.

Our English School in Hobart, Australia can offer students a wide variety of accommodation options, with choices including our ever popular Home Stay with a local family, comfortable hostels and furnished apartments.

Home Stay

Our Hobart English Language School takes great care in selecting its home stay families. All our host families are interviewed in their homes and briefed about our program before acceptance as a home stay family. Students and host families are then matched according to both their needs.

Our Home Stay package includes accommodation with a typical local family, with single, double or shared rooms all available. The package also includes all meals, with packed lunches provided on school days.

Our English language school can also offer its students the chance to stay with a local family on one of the surrounding farms, with a choice of vineyards, fruit farms, dairy farms or mixed farms. However, this option often involves a journey to school of up to one hour meaning many students choose this as a weekend only option.

It is important for the school to have as much information about students as possible in order to help placement with an appropriate family, with information on dietary needs, family preferences and general interests particularly useful.

Hostels and Backpackers

Students who do not wish to take part in our Home Stay program can choose to stay in a local hostel or backpackers which offer shared rooms with communal cooking facilities, with a shared bathroom and living area. Prices begin at $150 per week.

Furnished flats

Students who require more privacy can choose to stay in one of a small number of furnished apartments close to the school, with apartments available for one or two people. Information regarding our furnished apartments is available on request. Prices begin at $150 per week.
