 The great majority of Hong Kong Island's development is packed on the northern shore. The major centers of what has merged into a solid mass of buildings are Kennedy Town, Sheung Wan, Central, Admiralty, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and North Point. Central contains the highest skyscrapers and administration buildings, while the scenery becomes more residential the further away you travel.
Developments on the south of the island, which are often exposed to typhoons, have a more limited growth. Thanks to better connections these days, including a cross-island tunnel, steady expansion has been increasing. Larger centers include Aberdeen and Stanley.
