Our Arabic school in Fez is specifically geared for non-Arabic speakers from all over the world. The centre was established in early 2006, and is located in Fez in the northeast of Morocco, a ravishing city boasting one of the oldest universities in the world “Al Qarawiyine” with a unique medieval surrounding. Hence, being located in this sanctuary of spiritual and intellectual traditions, our school here is dedicated to offering academic education in Arabic and Islamic studies to all the students in quest of knowledge. Through its academic and cultural activities, our school's unique programme strives to develop a good understanding of Islam and Moroccan culture, using Arabic as a potent means of dispelling misunderstandings and creating an atmosphere of peace between people of different origins and backgrounds from around the world.

Modern Standard Arabic

Arabic Schools in FezOur core curriculum is divided into nine levels. The first six levels' primary components are an intensive study of basic Arabic language grammatical structures, mastery of Arabic script and pronunciation. Throughout this programme emphasis is placed on developing the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading & writing), with added emphasis placed on communication through conversation classes.

The later three levels of our programme introduce students to more advanced aspects of Arabic, like translation, complex grammar structure, reading analysis, in addition to discussion and presentation courses that help students develop and refine their communicative proficiency.

Moroccan Colloquial Arabic

4hrs/day, 5days/wk for a total of 60 hrs covered in 3wks

This Arabic language course introduces the students to Moroccan Colloquial Arabic through activities emphasizing the functional aspect of the dialect. This course covers the basic grammatical structure of the dialect and aims to expand students' vocabulary and develop their oral skills through interaction with native speakers, film discussions, and other interactive activities. This Arabic course can be more immersed in the rich Moroccan culture through proverb studies.

Women in Islam

(4hrs/day, 5days/wk for a total of 60 hrs covered in 3wk)

Arabic Schools in FezThis Arabic language course looks at different perspectives regarding women in Islam. It covers the status of women in the pre-Islamic era and throughout Islamic history with reference to their religious and social roles. This course also addresses the status of women in the contemporary Islamic world, gender interaction in society and the relationship between religion and culture. In addition to these primary aims, additional topics will be addressed including women in mosques throughout the history of Islam, women in public life, dressing code, women and economy. This course, delivered in English, will be reinforced by interactive activities, which may include any/all of the following: debates with Muslim women and how they interact with their surroundings, in addition to workshops and film studies.

Prerequisites: No previous knowledge of Islam or Arabic is required for this course.

Our courses incorporate different cultural activities such as cultural tours and visits including the Old Medina of Fez and its historical monuments, in addition to nearby sites. These activities also incorporate different sport events organized by the Centre's affiliate sport clubs. Students can also have an insight into another aspect of the Moroccan culture through cuisine classes. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to attend lectures on various aspects of the Moroccan and Islamic culture. They are also invited to attend workshops organized by the teachers or by students themselves; similarly, students are welcome to give talks on topics of their choice and above all, all students are encouraged to contribute with their suggestions, their skills and talents to make of studying in Fez a unique experience.

Homestay

Learn Arabic in FezHomestays with Moroccan families are a unique experience that provides students with an insight into the Moroccan culture and way of life. The homestay service includes room and board.

All home stays have a three-day introductory period. If students wish to seek other housing options, they should consider it within the period of three days; otherwise no request for reimbursement will be accepted.

Hotels

All students wishing to book a hotel room before their arrival should contact the Centre in advance as the Centre will gladly help find a hotel suitable to one's budget and tastes.

Apartments

Unfurnished apartments can be arranged for students. Any student hoping to live in an apartment should contact the Centre at least two weeks in advance, as it takes some time to find an appropriate apartment. Furnished apartments are rare in Fez and usually cost from 3000 to 8000 Dhs per month.
